In the face of such harsh realities, we wanted to protect the future of the people through support in healthcare and education. With this single purpose in mind, the Karez Association was founded in April 2002. In June of the same year, we received official NGO registration from the Afghan government and began operating a clinic in southern Kandahar.
A small light was lit on the barren desert land. It was the first step toward restoring the dignity of life. The Karez Association, whose name means "life-giving water channels," continues to quietly nurture the hearts and lives of the people.
